Active implants for osteochondral regeneration

Currently holding a post-doctoral position, I am working on the development of bioactive biomaterials aimed at the bone-cartilage regeneration, in osteochondral lesions. I recently participated in the development of pro-angiogenic membranous systems aimed to be applied for drug screening in cancer-mimicking environment. I will also investigate the use of cyclodextrin-functonalised polymers into therapeutic implant coatings, in particular to target inflammation issues. Finally I am actively involved into the transfer of our research into the clinic, through the elaboration of a clinical trial protocol, and its use in European project application. In the last years I have worked in the fields of modified cyclodextrins as therapeutic carriers and building blocks for supramolecular assemblies in drug delivery, as well as in the field of biomaterial coatings for implants.
